His subspecialty interest is in primary and revision joint replacement, particularly of the hip. He performs knee and hip arthroscopy frequently. It is intended as a source of information and communication for other medical consultants, healthcare professionals and for patients.

Mr Waterfield is especially interested in the use of cementless metal-on-metal hip replacements for the young and active, femoral neck retaining hip replacement, area contact knee replacement and revision hip replacement.

Mr Waterfield's research interests include cemented and cementless neck retaining hip replacements, large v small head metal-on metal hip replacement and visco-supplementation in hips following arthroscopy.
